WELCOME TO MOUND FORT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

PE CLASS
PHYSICAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
In class we will be teaching the students how to live a healthy lifestyle through physical fitness. The students will learn how to burn calories in a healthy way, they will learn how to get along with others during team sports (play fairly), and get physically fit. We try to make the pain of working out fun so that every student will want to continue to be healthy outside of my class.
Competition in its best form is a test of self. It has nothing to do with medals. The winner is the person who gets the most out of themselves.
-Al Oerter
Winner of 4 Olympic gold medals in the discus.
MEDICAL EXCUSES -- BE RESPONSIBLE
We expect all student’s to dress and participate in our daily activities. If your student has a medical reason not to participate they must bring a doctor’s note. Asthma is not an excuse to not participate. The student will be required to bring an inhaler every day, which they need to check in at the front office. If a student becomes ill during the day while at school the following day they are required to bring a note from home excusing them from the previous days activities. The following are examples of what to excuse your child from in PE:
· Sprain or broken limb
· Flu or common cold
· Respiratory ailment
As a PE teacher we get many notes from home excusing their child from activities for simple things like tiredness, menstruation, and no clothes. If every child that has these problems is excused then we will not have a class. Furthermore, if your child is excused from class we will ask them to complete a short written assignment to make up the points.
If you have any questions please contact us at Mound Fort Middle School 737-7800. I am looking forward to working with you and your student.
